Kids Knitting Kit – Finger Puppets

Here at Knitting in Cloud Nine we are passionate about passing on the lifeskill of knitting to children as it benefits them in so many important ways, such as:-

• improves motor skills
• practise maths
• read & follow instructions
• calming effect through concentrating on the motion of knitting (especially great for dyslexic learners)
• making new friends if done in a class setting, or with others
• teaches the value of handmade gifting
• provides a relaxing downtime for home as an alternative to electronic gadgets

We have been teaching children to knit for more than 5 years and these kits comprise the tried & tested projects that kids enjoy and are super easy for beginners.  They have just the right mix of instruction versus fun to keep your kids motivated and wanting to do more.  Our free online videos and helpful rhymes are especially geared for success of children.

Finger Puppet Kit Consists of:-

• 2 mini balls (approx 20m) of super chunky 100% wool in blue & golden yellow
• 25cm handmade wooden knitting needles
• knitting pattern
• a selection of coordinating notions to use imaginatively with the project
• a safe plastic needle for sewing
• a sandpaper swatch for maintaining needles
• all contained in a handmade cotton drawstring project bag

Worth Noting :-

The materials used can make or break a beginner knitter.  At Knitting on Cloud Nine we believe in using plant friendly, quality materials that give great results.  We use wool which is natural & bio degradable, it is soft to touch and the super chunky thickness gives quick but very effective results for beginners.  Your kit will contain either Rowan Big Wool (British brand) or Wool and the Gang’s Heal the Wool (100% recycled wool).  Both are fabulous and we choose depending on colour & stock availability.

Our knitting needles are hand made from untreated pine and are designed minimally to avoid unnecessary glues or toxic substances or finishings that can become dislodged and cause a choking risk.  We use natural jute to finish.  We prefer untreated pine for beginners because the wood is warm to touch and the stitches do not slip off like varnished or metal alternatives.  Given the hand finish of the needles slight variations are a natural feature.

These kits are not suitable for under 3s and there are a variety of beads, buttons & pom poms so you can customise your creations.  Some parental assistance may be necessary eg. sewing on a button.

Everything comes in a cute drawstring project bag which has been hand sewn locally in Paisley, near Glasgow as we try to support local makers.  Every piece of the kit has been carefully selected.
